Words: such curious, sensitive and expressive things they are. So full of power and potential. The challenge to find the right tone, flow and phrasing is one that keeps me happily typing and editing until the last word has revealed itself. Born and raised in the United States as a native English speaker, I passed the NT2 exam (Dutch as a second language, advanced level) in 2004, only 10 months after moving to the Netherlands and learning my first Dutch word. Long story short, adding the role of translator (Dutch to English) to my list of writing activities felt only natural. I enjoy writing, translating and editing a broad range of subjects (check out my work to view some examples) and — being a designer and tailor myself — I'm uniquely qualified to write and edit copy for the fashion industry. The variety is part of the fun!

 

Now enough about me, here's why you need my services: because judging the quality of your own writing can be tricky, especially if you're not writing in your native language. While your readers are guaranteed to be affected by it, they’re unlikely to offer negative feedback if your text is unappealing or contains frequent errors. And yet, we all know from experience that a clumsy style of writing and mistakes give off a bad impression. By conveying professionalism and charm, your writing should inspire confidence and enthusiasm. Delivering anything less is a disservice to your hard work and undermines your (company’s) full potential.
